Meet Chris Calle

The Southeastern Stamp Expo is honored to host one of the stamp world’s most outstanding artists. Chris Calle is a gifted artist who has designed over 30 stamps for the United States Postal Service and 200 stamp designs worldwide. Chris’ US postage stamp work includes many designs in the Great Americans series and Transportation series definitives from the 1980s, and the famous $2.40 Moon Landing stamp of 1989 and two stamps in 1994 celebrating the 25 th Anniversary of the Moon Landing designed jointly with his father Paul Calle. Paul designed the original 1969 First Man on the Moon stamp. Chris designed hundreds of Fleetwood First Day Covers and today also has his own line of First Day of Issue cacheted covers. He holds a degree from the Michigan School of Fine Art.

Chris will be speaking on stamp, cachet and first day cover production and design on Friday afternoon, and will be available for autographs in the registration area outside the ballroom throughout Friday and Saturday. His First Day Cover cachets will be available for sale during the Cachetmakers’ Bourse on Saturday afternoon.

The organizers of the Southeastern Stamp Expo are grateful to Chris for making the trip to Atlanta to join us this weekend and meet our attendees. Thanks also to Charles O’Brien III for providing travel expense sponsorship.
