Welcome to the
Greater Augusta Stamp Club

The Greater Augusta Stamp Club is the only active stamp collecting organization in the Augusta, Georgia, area.

We are an Active Club. We meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m., at the Warren Road Community Center, 300 Warren Road, in Augusta. A typical meeting will start with a short business session, followed by a mini-auction or educational program. Plenty of time is then left for individual swapping of stamps, information, and stories.

We are a Stamp Show Club. Shows take a lot of work to prepare and run, but nearly every member takes an active part, which makes it easier and more fun. This coming year we will plan and sponsor our 28th consecutive annual GAPEX Stamp Show on October 23 and 24, 2004. This year the show will be held at The Guesthouse Inn, 3023 Washington Road in Augusta. The show theme this year will be "George Walton" on the 200th anniversary of his death in Augusta on February 2, 1804. George Walton was the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence as well as Governor, Senator and Chief Justice of Georgia.

We are a Friendly Club. Club members often comment that the biggest asset of club membership is making friends with other collectors, while swapping information and experiences as well as stamps. We have a wealth of knowledge, which we are anxious to share with people of all ages and collecting levels.

We are a Growing Club. We must be doing something right, because most visitors become active members. Our paid membership has grown steadily over the past several years, and is about 50 at present. Typical meeting attendance runs about 20-25. Dues are $10.00 per year; junior memberships of $5.00 are available for those under 18, with a maximum of $15.00 for a whole family!

But above all, we are a Stamp Collecting Club! There are always plenty of stamps around to trade, buy, sell, or just admire. Besides the auctions, we circulate "circuit" books of stamps and covers from the APS and other clubs, and maintain a "penny box" of stamps from which members can search out inexpensive stamps.

So if you want to learn more about your hobby, build your collection, and have fun doing it, come check us out! We'll be looking for YOU at our next meeting!
